League: Leeds and Wetherby
Another great day for Cricket.
Carlton played a very strong Oulton side who had 8 very strong talented lads playing.
Louis was the captain today and led by example throuout the full game. Oulton won the toss and chose to field first!
Joe and Marcus were the first pairing out for Carlton and got the team off to a good start with 25 runs between them.
Maxwell and Henry then stepped up as the second pairing and knocked off 26 with Maxwell hitting some great shots (straight bat which at under 11’s will be awesome)
Noah and William went out and managed to hit 14 runs with William scoring 11, but most importantly zero wickets between them.
We needed a big innings, from the captain Louis and Arthur. They delivered, hitting 31 runs for zero runs! Some great boundaries and a joy to watch.
This gave Carlton a good lead of 271.
Carlton needed to come out and bowl and field well.
Henry, Arthur, Marcus and Joe bowled at the first two batters keeping them down to 14 runs. Two great wickets from Henrys over as a result of excellent catches and fielding from Carlton.
William, Maxwell, Louis and Noah were up next with some excellent bowling keeping the second pairing for Oulton down to 10 runs taking 3 wickets.
William took a great wicket which put Carlton on the front foot!!
Louis kept leading from the front with excellent communication and encouragement for the whole team.
Oulton came out for the last 8 overs knowing they had to give it a go.
Marcus dampened their hope with 3 wickets from his 2nd over.
Oulton got 45 runs from their last 8 overs but with catches from Arthur, Marcus and Joe, Carlton took 7 wickets which resulted in a 62 runs win for Carlton.
Big win for the boys leaving an exciting head to head win Methley. Winner takes all and wins the league
