Under 9s v East Ardsley Match Report

This Saturdays match was at home against East Ardsley. The weather tried it's best to stop us from playing but a BIG THANKS to our groundsman who quickly cut us a wicket in the outfield so we manged to play the full game.

Arthur captained the side this week for the first time. He did an excellent job keeping the team motivated whilst we had to contend with the constant drizzle of rain.

Carlton lost the toss and East Ardsley decided to field first. Louis and Marcus started the batting first with an AMAZING 50 runs between them. Marcus also got the highest individual score of the day with 33 runs. This pair continue to get better every week which great to see! Young Harry and Thomas followed this up with a solid 17 runs. Ben and Elliot showed some great communication skills as they scored 28 runs in total. Final pair was Arthur and William who scored the highest combined score of 54 runs with Arthur getting the second highest of the day of 31 runs. Overall a really positive innings for the team in which we only gave away 2 wickets.

Some great batting in the second half by East Ardsley which meant the team had to work together to try and keep the runs down to a minimum. Like all weeks we speak about the importance of 'backing up' and its something we worked hard on in training this week. It was great to see all the juniors putting this in to practice!

We also spoke about trying to keep the number of wides and no balls to a minimum. The team only gave 7 in total! Rewind a month or two back this was up at 20. The team took three wickets in total but a special mention to Elliot who took two in his second over! Very good 👍

Overall a great morning! East Ardsley were a great team and a pleasure to play against! All the juniors did well to stay out there and keep their concentration.

Final Score Carlton 344 East Ardsley 260
