Rules

The Laws of Cricket shall apply with the following exceptions

  • Players must not have played any form of league cricket in the last three years.
  • Players only allowed to play in one competing team. Substitute fielders are only allowed in the event of an injury incurred during the course of the game. 7 players to constitute a team.
  • Matches will comprise ten 8 – ball overs.
  • All players except the wicketkeeper shall bowl one over. Wicket keeper not to be changed during an innings except for good reason e.g. injury.
  • When a team has less than a full complement of players the opposing captain will indicate the player(s) who are to bowl the remaining over(s).
  • Batsmen to retire when they have scored 25 runs from the bat – runs scored in excess of 25 are void. (When the last 2 batsmen are at the wicket any runs scored by a batsman who has reached 25 do not count).
  • No spiked footwear to be worn.

Organisation

Matches will be played, where possible, on Friday evenings commencing at 6.30pm. Games in August to start at 6.15pm.

In the event of a game not being completed due to bad weather the game will be declared void and re-scheduled at a later date.

In the event of a tie the result will be determined by a bowling competition.
5 players from each team will bowl alternately at a double set of stumps. Should this fail to produce a result the remaining players will bowl alternately in a ‘sudden death’ competition to determine the winner.

At the outset teams will be issued with a programme of games. It is the responsibility of each team to ensure that they monitor the progress of the competition. Failure to play on a scheduled date will result in the offending team forfeiting the match.
Details and progress of the competition will be displayed in the clubhouse and on the club website - www.carltoncricketclub.co.uk.

Carlton Cricket Club cannot be held responsible for any injury to a player during the competition. Teams should arrange their own insurance cover.

ALL PLAYERS UNDER THE AGE OF18 MUST WEAR A PROTECTIVE HELMET WHEN BATTING OR STANDING UP TO THE STUMPS WHEN KEEPING WICKET.

The final of the loser’s competition shall take place on FRIDAY 22 AUGUST – 6 pm start.

The final of the winner’s competition shall take place on MONDAY 25 AUGUST – 2 pm start and comprise 20 six-ball overs per innings.

The decision of the organising committee on any matter will be final.
