The Wheatley Cup Final will be held at Carlton this year and the 2nd XI went one step nearer to a home final after a strong performance away to Altofts thanks to a captains knock of 90 from Darren Read and excellent bowling from Jordan Hartley 3 for 16 & Matthew Wrzoseck 3 for 13. The 1st XI also conquered Premier Division opposition at home to Altofts. This was a great team effort with special mentions for Gary Close, 6 for 43 and a spectacular diving catch in the field, Tom Taylor with 3 slick stumpings and Dale Woolsey for a solid 50 and some economic bowling towards the end of the Altofts innings. Both sides now take on Wakefield Thornes on 13 June in Round 2 of their respective competitions with the 1st XI at home. Let's hope for similar weather! |
