The final, played at Crossgates CC against Methley was in the balance until the penultimate ball when Carlton’s Billy Dawson smashed the winning runs to the boundary.  Methley were restricted to 101 from their 20 overs by a determined Carlton fielding and bowling effort. Ben James marshalled his troops who responded well as a team unit to his astute captaincy.
Dave Wills was the pick of the Carlton bowlers returning figures of 1 – 10 from an impressive four overs of high-class off-spin. He was well supported by Nick Busby, Ben James, Matthew Cook, Cole Pagett, Billy Dawson and Jordan Hartley.
Carlton’s reply got away to a strong start with openers George Hulme and Jordan Sowden taking an early command of the Methley attack. George Hulme went on to top score with 23. The middle order kept up the run chase with James Cunliffe, batting at no.6,  contributing  a vital, unbeaten 20.  With two wickets left Carlton required an unlikely 10 runs from the last over. Cunliffe, however, rose to the challenge hitting six from the first three balls before David Wills was run out.  Cometh the hour cometh the man: Billy Dawson, Carlton’s number 11, strode out to the middle and confidently stroked the winning boundary from his first ball. A top team performance – a great game.
