Do You Recognise Anyone?

Carlton CC 1933?

We have received an email from David Jackson who is now living in Australia and is looking into his family history. His grandfather, Fred Jackson was very much involved with Carlton Cricket Club in the pre-war days. He died in 1942 and David used to visit his grandmother Sarah Jackson who lived in a house right outside the gates to the cricket field. Sarah was born Sarah Fox in Rothwell but her father James Fox lived in Carlton before moving to Rothwell.

David has provided an undated picture of his grandfather with the Carlton CC team and Keith Taylor Snr has provided some further information regarding the picture including some of the player names. If anyone has any further information regarding the picture such as the year it was taken or further player names or if anyone has any further information regarding Fred Jackson's involvement with Carlton and the Cricket Club please could you email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Club News

newspaperA few reminders as we come close to the start of the 2012 season. All players wanting to play senior cricket in the CYCL next year must have completed a player registration form before the season starts and this CAN NOT be done on the day of the 1st game. Anyone who hasn't completed a form please contact your Team Manager.

Although Trevor Rudge, Martin Simpson, Richard Walker, Roy Ward, Gerald Tolley, among others, have done a fantastic job preparing the ground for the new season there are still plenty of jobs to do. We will be completing these jobs on Saturday 7th April from 10:30 and any volunteers attending will receive free food and a free Natwest Cricketforce T-shirt. There is quite a bit of painting to do outside eg benches, exterior doors/frames etc so please also bring a suitable paint brush if you have one.

Outdoor practice nights will be as follows; U9 (softball) 18:00-19:00 plus U13 & U15 18:30-19:30 all starting on Friday 13th April; U17 17:30-18:30 from Tuesday 3rd April; Seniors 18:00-19:30 from Tuesday 3rd April. New players are still wanted for our U9, U11 & U13 teams (Years 2-8) please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for further information.

Junior Registration Evening takes place on Friday 13th April from 19:00 in the clubhouse. SpellSports and Warrior Cricket will be displaying their goods and this is an opportunity to have a drink in the clubhouse and register your child for the coming season. Parents need to sign the junior registration forms therefore we need you to attend on 13th April in order to register your child and pay his/her subscription (£35 which includes membership for the whole family).

Senior players must also complete a registration form to ensure we have up to date contact and medical information for all of our players. Forms will be distributed at training and on match days. Senior Membership Subscriptions of £45 must also be paid before the end of April to allow selection post this date. These can be paid over the bar in the clubhouse or to the club secretary/treasurer.

Andrew Gale & GuestsThe 2012 Sports Dinner took place at Normanton Golf Club on Friday night. There was a great turnout again. Malcolm Lord was on form as compere and Mike Kelly delivered a very funny set. Andrew Gale was an excellent special guest and proved to have a good sense of humour during the night. Thanks to everyone who attended and to all of our sponsors who supported the event including Grahame Liles, Compliance365, Rudding Park, Richard Smith (Thai on the Square), Kippax Cricket Bats and Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa. Pictures from the event can now be found in the gallery here courtesy of Andrew Rudge.
